A precast channel beam is a conventionally reinforced precast concrete bridge beam with a channel running through the bottom.  The beams are cast to a desired length, shipped and placed side by side over a stream or an obstruction to create the width of the bridge.  The precast channel beams are connected on the bottom side by a bolt system and/or connection plates.  Joints are grouted to create the final driving surface.

Precast channel beams, ranging from 2' - 7" to 3' - 4" widths and spans from 20' to 40', are more economical to install in short span bridge applications, durable and easier to handle than larger bridge beam systems.   Our wider, 3' - 4", beams translates to less joints in the deck.  The option of epoxy coated rebar and micro-silica in our mix increase the durability in addition to meeting AASHTO Standard Specifications, HS-20 live load and requires a 5,000 psi concrete strength.
